IRELAND - Ireland is one of the major countries of my ancestry. I have traveled there as a tourist and for golf vacations. For such a small country there is an abundance of scenic beauty, historic monuments, and incredible golf courses. I also recommend that you visit the Long Room at Trinity College in Dublin - a magnificent collection of ancient books! (longroom.jpg)
After some incredible economic success, the past few years have seen significant downturns. Much of the exuberance has been tempered, and the economy continues to struggle. But the Irish spirit has not dampened. People still tell great stories, tell funny jokes, and sing and play exceptional songs and music. The cultural, academic, and literary forces continue to thrive.
As in every country where I have worked, I concentrate on the qualities of the countries and the individuals. In working with finance leaders in major corporations the challenge is always to make finance information interesting and compelling…as well as just informative. So the Irish history and tradition of "story-telling" can have a very positive effect on the perception of audiences.
